Blue’s story

Blue is a three-year-old Labrador Retriever mix. He entered a Texas shelter with medical concerns and was scheduled for euthanasia. Someone stepped forward to save him, and he traveled to Maryland in June 2026. When Bella’s Battalion learned he still needed veterinary care, we arranged for his surrender to our rescue. Blue is now safe in foster care.

On September 18, 2026, we paid $254.80 for Blue’s first veterinary visit under our care. His examination addressed significant skin concerns and included a skin scraping, medications, and medicated skin products. He also needs surgery for bilateral entropion. His lower eyelids turn inward and irritate his eyes.

Anicira estimated $1,048 for surgery and up to $140 for bloodwork, bringing the total to up to $1,188. Blue deserves relief from his eye discomfort and a chance to heal. Help fund Blue’s treatment.

Periwinkle’s story

Periwinkle came from southeast Texas, where she spent about a month recovering at a veterinary clinic before traveling north. On March 25, 2026, Meredith and her mother met the transport from Corpus Christi in Maryland. Meredith drove Periwinkle to a temporary foster in Pasadena while the person who had agreed to take responsibility for her returned from out of town. At that point, Bella’s Battalion helped with transport, but Periwinkle was not in our rescue’s care.

Meredith remembers a friendly dog with a shiny coat and a healthy-looking body condition. When she saw Periwinkle again on September 20, her ribs, spine, and hips were prominent. Meredith says Periwinkle had lost more than a quarter of her body weight. Periwinkle also tested positive for heartworm and still needed treatment.

She is now safe with a loving foster-to-adopt caregiver. Bella’s Battalion is helping her get nutrition, veterinary care, and time to recover. We need sponsors for her $55 office visit, $140 full bloodwork panel, and $500+ in ongoing heartworm treatment. Help sponsor Periwinkle’s care.
